Hooded Towels vs Regular Towels: Why Make the Switch?

Curious about hooded towels, how they differ from regular towels, and the benefits they offer as a result? This article is for you!

Read on to learn all about hooded towels and how they compare to classic beach towels. Once you’ve seen what they have to offer, you may just find yourself wanting a couple or more.

What Are Hooded Towels? A Quick Overview of Hooded Towels

The hooded towel, as the name implies, is a type of wearable towel that includes a hood. Just like a hoodie, you simply slip the hooded towel on over your head. It includes sleeveless openings for your arms in the same vein as a singlet. No matter the style of hooded towel you choose from Noxen, all of them include a kangaroo pouch where you can keep your belongings.

How Do They Differ from Regular Towels?

Besides the obvious (hooded towels being a wearable piece of attire), hooded towels offer more functionality than your typical beach towel.

By their design, hooded towels are ideal for beach or pool outings. Unlike a beach towel, where you struggle to hold it up while you change in or out of your swimmers, hooded towels provide ample and consistent coverage that makes it far easier to put on swimmers in crowded public spaces like on a beach.

Thanks to their wearable design and included kangaroo pouches, they also help cut down on how much stuff you need to carry. Instead of going back and forth between your car and the beach or pool multiple times, the practical design of hooded towels helps lighten your load.

If you’re a frequent beachgoer or go for swims in the pool regularly, you’ll find hooded towels make the experience breezier and even more enjoyable.

At Noxen, we sell two types of hooded towels.

There’s our standard hooded towel, which comes in standard and pro versions (the pro includes an additional zip pocket on the front and a concealed zip pocket on the inside). This towel, which is available in kids, adults, and oversized variations, is a fantastic option for the cooler months.

The second type is the Turkish hooded towel, which is made with Turkish cotton. It’s lightweight, breathable, and is the perfect choice for the spring and summer seasons.

Why Choose Hooded Towels?

Enhanced Comfort for Babies and Children

We have an entire selection of hooded towels that are the perfect fit for children and babies. For babies, we recommend hooded towels with 45x65 sizing.

As both hooded towel types (standard and Turkish) are made with cotton, they are exceptionally comfortable to wear.

The standard hooded towel makes use of pure cotton terry fabric, resulting in a wonderfully plush feel that you could honestly fall asleep in. That’s why plenty of customers also use them as wearable blankets. The Turkish hooded towel makes use of Turkish cotton, which is soft to the touch but also thin and lightweight enough to remain breathable in the summer.

Added Convenience for Parents and Caregivers

For parents and caregivers, hooded towels make beach outings so much easier. Thanks to their practical design, there’s no need to be carrying a pile of beach towels - just wear your hooded towels to and from the beachfront.

It also makes it easier for kids to safely switch in and out of their swim gear in public spaces. Plus, the ample coverage of the hooded towels protects them from the sun more comprehensively than regular towels.

When you and the kids are done in the ocean (or a pool or any other body of water), you don’t have to worry about drying everyone off individually. The kids can simply slip their hooded towels back on and they’ll dry out in no time.

Stylish and Fun Designs

Much like the vibrancy of New Zealand’s beaches, we wanted our hooded towels to stand out with a range of eye-catching colours and simple, fun designs. If you want to personalise your style even further, you can include embroidery on the towel or even get in touch to discuss more custom poncho design options.

Improved Drying Efficiency

Thanks to our entire range making use of cotton, Noxen hooded towels tend to dry out efficiently between each use. On average, our standard hooded towels often dry out within an hour or two. The Turkish hooded towels, thanks to their thinner cotton and use in warmer months, can dry even faster.

Are Hooded Towels Right for You?

Hooded towels are a great option for many people - and their use by no means has to be limited to the beach or pool.

Ideal for Families with Young Children

It goes without saying that if you have young kids and enjoy regular trips to the beach, a public pool, or you’ve got your own pool at home, our hooded towels are perfect for you.

Even if your outings aren’t always to a beach, you’ll find hooded towels can be great for protecting yourself against the sun, staying warm on cooler days, and may just prove to be your kids’ favourite piece of attire around the home.

Great for Pool and Beach Days

Of course, if you do beach days frequently or take regular dips in the pool, hooded towels are a great choice. They simply offer more versatility than a regular towel.

A Practical Choice for Everyday Use

They can be great for everyday use, too. If you’ve just had a shower, you can pop on a hooded towel and relax. Or maybe you’re out somewhere camping and the cool night air has set in - again, you can slip on a hooded towel as an alternative to a hoodie or blanket. Ultimately, if you like practical gear, you’ll find plenty to love about hooded towels.

How to Keep Your Hooded Towels in Great Condition

Taking care of a hooded towel is simple. Much like a regular towel, you won’t be washing it every time it’s used. As long as your hooded towel is drying out between uses, you should be good to make use of it a few times before a wash is necessary.

Washing Instructions for Longevity
To ensure your hooded towel has a long life, keep the following pointers in mind:

1.

When washing the hooded towel, place it in a washing machine with a small amount of detergent.

If you choose to handwash your hooded towels, place the towel in a tub of cold water with a small amount of detergent

2.

Run the washing machine on a normal or delicate cycle in cold water.

If handwashing, gently move around and squeeze the hooded towel in the cold water/detergent mix for around 10 minutes - do not pull, twist, or wring out the material.

When you’ve finished handwashing the towel, rinse it in a fresh batch of cold water for a few more minutes

3.

Whether using a washing machine or handwashing, DO NOT use warm or hot water as this could cause the hooded towel to shrink.

4.

For drying, it’s best to let the hooded towel air dry on a clothesline, just like nature intended.

Following these simple steps should keep your hooded towel in good condition for several years.
